Personalized Physician-focused scheduling
A set of high fidelity comps that addresses issues found through contextual inquiry with physicians and subsequently evaluated with the same group through a prototype.

Process
Contextual Inquiries
We performed contextual inquiries to ascertain what current scheduling systems physicians were currently using, and how they were (not) working for them.
Adhering to strict HIPAA regulations, we interviewed a dozen physicians across all types of disciplines, ranging from primary care to surgeons.
Deliverables
Favorites are the gateway
Our research team came to realize that doctors had their specific departments they would often interact as part of their patient care routine.
It was important for them to have easy access to these departments since they were so integral to their day-to-day routine.
Through our research we determined the ability to favorite would be one of the primary adoption drivers for the new scope of functionality, so the design team opted to prioritize this feature.
Integrated schedules
One of the other primary insights that the team derived from their design research was the fact that physicians maintain a lot of schedules. The organization was utilizing several scheduling functions, which made it difficult and time-consuming for physicians to maintain a coherent view of their day, week and month.
With the additional need to keep their personal calendar in sync with their professional ones, the design team determined offering a one-stop view of all their engagements would provide immense value.
Integrated schedules
Together with the organization's technology team we started iterating on potential solutions that would allow for an integrated view, while still maintaining strict confidentiality for patients and physicians alike.
